Dispute Erupts Over 'Secret Code: Rubicon' Album

According to Главком: A public conflict has erupted over the album 'Secret Code: Rubicon,' a collaborative project featuring the band BoomBox and singer Tina Karol. Sound producer Oleh Adzhykaiev has publicly accused the artists of appropriating authorship rights and withholding payments, a dispute which has already led to the removal of some tracks from streaming platforms. Neither BoomBox nor Karol have yet issued a public response to these allegations.

Adzhykaiev claims he was responsible for producing the majority of the songs and the album's overall sound. He states he has not received transparent accounting or proper royalties for his work.

“The irony is that you create the music together, but when it comes to money, even basic transparency suddenly becomes impossible to find. As a co-author, I have received neither understandable reporting nor proper payments for the use of these works,”

he noted.

Adzhykaiev also promised to publish correspondence with the teams of Andrii Khlyvniuk (BoomBox's frontman) and Tina Karol regarding their joint track 'Abyss'.

“I remained silent for a very long time and tried to resolve the issue civilly... A scheme for appropriating others' work has been uncovered... I am not the only one in this situation; it's just that the majority stay silent,”

he added. Oleh Adzhykaiev emphasized that the situation cannot be resolved without going to court.

The Critical Need for Transparency in the Music Industry

The conflict surrounding the 'Secret Code: Rubicon' album continues to draw attention, though the artists' response remains private.

This scandal underscores the critical importance of transparency in the music industry, particularly concerning copyright and financial payments. Such disputes are not uncommon globally, highlighting systemic challenges artists and producers face. The lack of clear agreements can lead to serious disputes, which, as seen here, affect not only the artists involved but also listeners who may lose access to the music. The further development of this case and its potential legal consequences could set an important precedent for others in the music scene.

The ongoing dispute over the album highlights broader issues within the music industry, particularly regarding artist rights and transparency. In a related incident, Tina Karol's recent concert in Odesa has sparked discussions about artists' responsibilities and the significance of ethical practices in their careers. Such events serve as a reminder of the importance of accountability in creative collaborations.
