The family of U.S. President Donald Trump earned over 800 million dollars from the sale of crypto assets in just the first half of 2025, not counting potential billions of "paper" profit. This is reported by Reuters.

How the Trumps earn from crypto

Most of the income came from abroad, where Trump's sons promoted the cryptocurrency project World Liberty (WLFI) at international investor presentations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Through it, investor funds flow to the Trump Organization.

According to Reuters, Trump Corporation's revenues for the first half of the year increased 17-fold - from 51 to 864 million dollars. Of this amount, 802 million, or over 90%, came from crypto enterprises, including the sale of World Liberty (WLFI) tokens.

  • 463 million dollars - sale of WLFI tokens

  • 336 million - profit from meme coins $TRUMP

  • 33 million - revenues from golf clubs and resorts

  • 23 million - licensing the Trump brand abroad

The World Liberty website notes that the subsidiary of Trump Organization receives 75% of the sales from WLFI tokens.

Trump Organization lawyer Timothy Parlatore stated that WLFI is not a security: "These are digital assets with real management rights that benefit the owners." He added that the profit estimates given by Reuters are "inaccurate and misleading".

Conflict of interest and political subtext

Ethics experts point out that involving crypto initiatives in the U.S. president's business creates a risk of a conflict of interest. "Investors are putting money into Trump's companies not because of the brilliance of his sons, but because of hopes for political gains," said Kathleen Clark, a law professor at Washington University.

Former counsel to the Bush administration Richard Painter called the situation "legal, but unethical".

Donald Trump himself referred to cryptocurrency as a "scam" and "anti-American" back in the 2020s. But after the start of the 2024 presidential campaign, he changed his rhetoric: he promised to fire the head of the SEC, create a national Bitcoin reserve, and "let the crypto industry breathe without fear".

Earlier, we reported that Trump pardoned the founder of Binance.
