Free Health Screenings for Over-40s: Access at 1500 Medical Facilities
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: A national program in Ukraine offers free health screenings for citizens aged 40 and older. The initiative, available at nearly 1500 participating state, municipal, and private medical facilities, aims for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health issues. This type of preventative care is a cornerstone of modern public health strategy.
To be eligible, individuals must have turned 40 and have at least 30 days passed since their birthday in the current calendar year. Upon application, the state provides 2000 hryvnias to cover the cost of the screening. One participant, Natalia, is among the 50,000 people who have applied and used the funds for her examination at a private clinic.
Program Goals
The primary goals of the 'Screening Health 40+' program are to enhance the quality of medical care and improve public health through early disease detection and prevention. A full list of participating medical institutions is available on the program's official website.
This important public health initiative has significant potential to improve the health of Ukraine's population, particularly for those aged 40 and above. Early detection can prevent serious complications and reduce the burden on the healthcare system. The widespread availability of free screenings at a large network of facilities is also key to encouraging more people to engage in preventative healthcare, which is crucial for reducing overall population morbidity.
