Monthly fee of 150 UAH: who among Ukrainians needs to review their bank card settings

Customers of Oschadbank should check the cards they haven't used for a long time. The bank may charge a monthly fee of 150 UAH for servicing an inactive card account. This fee applies only to accounts with no money movement for a year. This is reported by Oboz.

150 UAH fee: when does Oschadbank consider a card inactive

An account can be deemed inactive if there have been no deposits or withdrawals for 12 months. After that, the bank has the right to deduct 150 UAH monthly.

At the same time, not every technical action renews activity. Specifically, the following are not considered:

• automatic deductions of bank fees;

• internal transfers between main and virtual cards.

If there is less than 150 UAH left on the card, the bank will deduct the actual balance. For example, 20 or 50 UAH. The account will not go into the negative: debt for such a fee will not accumulate.

How to avoid the deduction of funds from Oschadbank card

The simplest way to avoid the fee is to carry out a real transaction on the account: make a purchase, top up a mobile phone, transfer funds, or receive a deposit to the card. It is important that this is not an internal movement between linked cards.

If the card is no longer needed, it should be closed along with the account, not just removed from the wallet or blocked in the app. You should contact the bank and check if there are any funds left in the account.

Customers should also pay attention to the expiration date of old cards. Oschadbank in May extended their validity until December 31, 2026. Automatic renewal does not apply to cards for which the last transaction was before January 1, 2025, or there was none at all, and the balance on the account is less than or equal to zero.
