Sports victories: Our gymnast conquered Israel, while 'Dynamo' was crowned in Ukraine
FC 'Dynamo Kyiv' was crowned Ukrainian champions for the first time since 2008/09 after defeating 'Dnipro' 1:0.
'Dnipro' secured its place in the UEFA Europa League final after a historic victory against 'Napoli' last Thursday, and coach Miron Markevich apparently decided to give several players a rest. The host team at the capital's 'Olympic' stadium dominated the game, but the Croatian defender Domagoj Vida only managed to score in the 84th minute. This was his second goal in the league.
The rest of the match was dedicated by Sergey Rebrov's players to maintaining the minimal advantage for victory and securing the 14th crown, the first since gaining independence. During the Soviet Union, 'Dynamo' won 13 titles. It is noteworthy that in the previous five seasons, the champion of Ukraine was Donetsk's 'Shakhtar'. Only now has Kyiv's 'Dynamo' managed to surpass the 'miners'.

It should be noted that FC 'Dynamo's' main rival in the championship race in the UPL, Donetsk's 'Shakhtar', has earned 55 points in the tournament and fell 7 points short of 'Dynamo'. Thus, the Donetsk club secured second place in the league, while the defeated 'Dnipro' received third place with 50 points in the tournament.
'This was a very difficult season, - said Rebrov, who took the reins of 'Dynamo' last May. - It is really great that we announced the gold before our fans. I can say that winning as a coach is much harder. Now the main task is to keep all the leaders who helped us win the title, but we also need talented newcomers'.
'I want to thank the fans for believing in us during all the tough times, - added goalkeeper Alexander Shovkovskiy. - And I want to wish good luck to 'Dnipro' in the Europa League final - we are certainly supporting them.'
While 'Dnipro' still has to defend Ukraine's honor on the international stage, Ukrainian gymnast Anna Rizatdinova has already succeeded. The Ukrainian athlete and team leader won two medals at the Grand Prix in Holon, Israel.
Rizatdinova excelled in the final for ribbon exercises. With a score of 18.434, the gymnast outperformed all professional competitors and secured first place. Additionally, the second place and silver medal went to Anna Rizatdinova in the apparatus with clubs (18.400). Our athlete was just a little short of a third medal - the bronze for the hoop exercise. Unfortunately, the Israeli gymnast Netta Rivkin surpassed the Ukrainian in this event.
Overall, the Ukrainian team won 6 medals at the Grand Prix in Israel.
