Court Proceedings Begin in the Case Involving MP Skorokhod and Associates Over a $250,000 Sanctions Scheme
The Skorokhod Case
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The investigation into a Ukrainian parliamentarian and her accomplices, accused of attempting to orchestrate the imposition of National Security and Defense Council (RNBO) sanctions against a rival company for $250,000, has now been referred to court. The conspirators received an initial payment of $125,000 from the 'client' but failed to deliver the funds to RNBO officials due to the absence of a willing participant to carry out the illicit actions.
In December 2025, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), and the Security Service of Ukraine's Main Directorate (SBU) formally charged the MP along with her collaborators. On December 5, 2025, searches were conducted at Anna Skorokhod’s premises, and on the same day, law enforcement uncovered the group she led. The group had offered a businessman a deal to have a competing company added to the RNBO sanctions list in exchange for $250,000. The scheme involved the MP’s assistant and several intermediaries. Charges were officially laid against the MP, her aide, and another participant on December 5, 2025.
Investigation Outcome and Legal Proceedings
The investigation concluded in June 2026. One member of the criminal group reached a plea agreement, providing incriminating testimony against the others involved. The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced this individual to five years in prison with a probation period. Additionally, he donated 700,000 hryvnias to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces via the United24 fund.
Although the MP’s name has not been officially disclosed, public sources associate the case with Anna Skorokhod. On December 9, 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court set a bail amounting to 3,028,000 hryvnias for her release.
This case has drawn widespread attention across Ukraine due to its illustration of deep-rooted corruption at senior government levels. The involvement of a sitting lawmaker in manipulating the state’s sanctions process raises serious concerns about ethical standards and transparency within the country’s political system. The court’s examination of the case is expected to shed light on the full extent of the scheme and the roles played by all parties involved, potentially affecting the broader political environment in Ukraine.
