USA to strengthen Poland with an additional 5000 troops - Trump
President of the United States Donald Trump announced his intention to send an additional 5,000 American troops to Poland. The statement came amid discussions about reducing the U.S. military presence in Europe and recent reports of canceling the transfer of part of the contingent. Trump announced new U.S. troop reinforcement in Poland
According to Trump, the decision is related to the victory of Karol Nawrocki in the presidential elections in Poland.
«I am pleased to announce that the United States will send an additional 5,000 service members to Poland,» wrote the American president.
Trump also emphasized that he supported Nawrocki during the election campaign and positively assesses future cooperation with the new Polish government.
Why the discussion around U.S. troops in Poland arose
Earlier, Politico reported that Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth allegedly canceled the transfer of 4,000 American troops to Poland at the last moment.
After that, Polish media and NATO allies expressed concerns about a possible reduction of the American presence in Eastern Europe.
U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance later stated that there is no discussion of withdrawing troops from Europe. According to him, Washington is only reviewing the distribution of resources and expects greater participation from European countries in their own defense.
It was previously reported that the U.S. Army canceled the deployment of over 4,000 service members and armored vehicles in Poland.
