According to Главком: The U.S. State Department has greenlit the sale of Hawk surface-to-air missile system components to Ukraine, with a total price tag of $108.1 million. Additionally, Washington has authorized the supply of equipment for JDAM-ER aerial bombs, valued at $373.6 million. These approvals are part of broader American efforts to bolster the security of Ukraine, a key partner in maintaining political and economic stability across Europe.
Procurement Request Details
Kyiv's official procurement request includes the following items:
- assembled mast trailers
- overhaul and maintenance services
- spare components
- consumables and accessories
- repair and return logistics
Ukraine has also requested engineering and technical support from the U.S. government and contractors, along with other logistics and program assistance tied to the FrankenSAM Hawk air defense system.
Regarding the JDAM-ER bomb request, Kyiv has included 1,200 KMU-572 tail kits and 332 KMU-556 units. At the same time, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a defense budget for 2026 totaling 4.367 trillion hryvnias-a 63.5% increase compared to the previous year.
The State Department stated that the proposed sale 'will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by enhancing the security of a partner country.'
