Blackbeard Hypersonic Missile Launches

According to НВ — Техно: June 12, 9:00 PM

The United States plans to launch Castelion's Blackbeard hypersonic missiles from the Marauder, an unmanned surface vessel built by Saronic. The Marauder began water trials in late May. This 55-meter-long ship can carry payloads up to 150 tons. If testing proves successful, Saronic intends to produce up to 20 Marauder vessels annually after expanding its Louisiana shipyard, with the expansion slated for completion by year's end.

The MUSV Marketplace Initiative

The US Navy has confirmed that Saronic is one of seven companies selected to join the MUSV marketplace initiative. Participants in this program will conduct at-sea trials this summer. Those who succeed in the evaluation phase will receive $15 million in funding by October and become eligible for future contracts.

Castelion aims to manufacture several thousand Blackbeard missiles each year. Last October, Blackbeard secured multiple contracts to work with US Army and Navy platforms. Dino Mavroukas, a Castelion representative, stated:

“Launching Castelion hypersonic weapons from the Marauder MUSV fundamentally changes the calculus for any adversary trying to predict where and how the US can strike.”

Bryon Hargis, also from Castelion, added:

“Blackbeard and Marauder will give our warfighters more shots, from more places, with fewer constraints.”

This initiative underscores the strategic importance of hypersonic technology in modern military conflicts. Integrating new platforms like the Marauder with high-speed Blackbeard missiles could significantly enhance US military capabilities, boosting operational flexibility and threat response speed. Success in this program may prove critical to maintaining US maritime dominance in the years ahead.

In addition to hypersonic advancements, the U.S. military is exploring innovative defense strategies, such as deploying interceptor drone swarms to effectively counter large-scale attacks. This multifaceted approach highlights the evolving landscape of military technology and the necessity for robust defense mechanisms in contemporary warfare.
