US Strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island Drives Brent Oil Prices Above $106 per Barrel
Військові дії США на іранському острові Кешм спричинили зростання цін на нафту марки Брент вище 106 доларів за барель.

Oil Prices Surge Amid US Attack on Iranian Territory

According to 5 канал — Економіка: Global oil markets reacted sharply after the United States launched a strike on Qeshm Island, located near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This military action was a direct response to an earlier Iranian missile attack targeting an American aircraft. By 11:30 AM Kyiv time, Brent crude prices climbed to $106.46 per barrel, reflecting a 1.64% increase compared to previous trading levels. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also rose by 1.79%, reaching $98.14 per barrel.

Regional Tensions and Economic Implications

Tensions in the Middle East have been escalating since October 28, when a missile strike hit Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery. Following that incident, Brent crude surged 1.27% to $115.23 per barrel, while WTI increased by 1.69% to $101.60 per barrel. Earlier in October, then-President Donald Trump announced plans to avoid new attacks on Iran until after the November 3 congressional elections.

Three US officials in Washington described the recent strike as a defensive measure aimed at protecting American personnel and assets in the region from Iranian military threats. The White House deliberately withheld detailed information about the operation to prevent escalating tensions and to maintain ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The rise in oil prices highlights growing geopolitical instability in a region critical to global energy supplies. Such volatility could impact countries reliant on oil imports by driving inflationary pressures. Analysts are closely monitoring these developments, as they have potential consequences for US-Iran relations, international policymaking, and overall global security.
