Asset Freeze on Oleksii Kuleba

According to Главком: Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has ordered the seizure of an apartment and a parking space controlled by Oleksii Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration. The measure was taken at the request of prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO). The apartment is valued at 4.4 million hryvnias, and the parking spot at 520,000 hryvnias, bringing the total close to 5 million hryvnias.

SAPO has filed a lawsuit seeking to declare these assets unjustified, arguing that Kuleba uses the property and can influence his sister, in whose name it is registered. Prosecutors highlighted the risk of asset transfer to prevent future confiscation. An analysis of Kuleba's and his family's income and expenses revealed insufficient official funds to acquire these assets.

Ongoing Court Proceedings

The legal case examining the origin of the property continues, with no final ruling yet on whether the assets were lawfully obtained.

This case is part of a broader anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine, which has intensified amid the country's ongoing economic challenges. Freezing the assets of high-ranking officials underscores state agencies' efforts to tackle corruption risks and ensure transparency in the use of public resources. It is important to monitor this case's progress, as it could significantly impact public trust in state institutions and the government as a whole.

This recent asset seizure is part of a wider initiative aimed at combating corruption among Ukrainian officials. For more insight into the ongoing efforts by Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Agency to recover nearly 5 million hryvnias from Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba, you can read further details here.
