Court chose a preventive measure for Deputy Prime Minister Chernysev: the decision announced
The High Anti-Corruption Court decided on preventive measures for Deputy Prime Minister for National Unity Oleksiy Chernysev. The court set bail at 120 million hryvnias and imposed a large number of restrictions on the official.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced suspicion against Chernysev on June 23 under articles on abuse of office and obtaining illegal benefits in especially large amounts. The high-ranking official became the sixth person in a high-profile corruption case that reveals a large-scale scheme in the construction industry.
The criminal scheme in the construction industry, according to investigators, was organized by a capital builder with broken templates. This scheme involved taking control of valuable land for a residential complex through corrupt actions involving influential individuals, including then-Minister of Community and Territory Development Oleksiy Chernysev.
Detectives of the NABU uncovered a complicated crime system and proved that the participants in this conspiracy, among whom were a state secretary, a minister's advisor, and a director of a state enterprise, actively worked to transfer this land to an illegal developer.
Summarizing the results
The High Anti-Corruption Court imposed strict preventive measures on the Deputy Prime Minister suspected of corruption in the construction industry scandal. This case shows that a corruption network can include influential officials and large sums of money, but thanks to the work of the judicial system, offenders can still be uncovered and held accountable.
