Kyiv Attack Claims Seven Lives, Including Musician Ihor Savchenko

According to Главком: A deadly attack in Kyiv on April 18 has claimed the life of Ukrainian musician Ihor Savchenko, a member of the band Druhe Sontse. The incident occurred on Demiivska Street in the Holosiivskyi district. The death toll from the shooting has now risen to seven. His bandmate, Maryna Yurevych, confirmed Savchenko's death, describing the loss as devastating and painful.

Incident Details

The assailant was a 58-year-old native of Moscow who opened fire, barricaded himself inside a supermarket, and took hostages. The special forces unit KORD neutralized the shooter. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, five people were initially killed, but by April 20, the number had increased to seven. One woman, whose identity is still being determined and who was approximately 30 years old, died in the hospital. A man, for whom doctors had been fighting, also succumbed to his injuries.

In total, 10 people were hospitalized with injuries, and medics provided aid to six more victims at the scene. As of April 20, seven wounded individuals remain in hospitals, including one child. Four adults are in intensive care, and two are in the polytrauma department.

Ihor Savchenko is survived by his wife, Tetiana, and daughter, Hanna. The band Druhe Sontse, in which he played, was founded in 2009 by Maryna Yurevych and was previously known as Feromon. Both Yurevych and Savchenko had been members since 2010. She expressed her profound grief, stating that Ihor was her friend and true brother-in-arms, with whom she shared many life moments:
