Statements from the U.S. President

According to ХВИЛЯ: U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukraine to change its president and stop attacks targeting Russian oil refineries. This came shortly after he announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin to supply Russian diesel fuel to both American and global markets. Trump made these remarks just before departing Andrews Air Force Base en route to Tennessee.

He emphasized that while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is free to act as he wishes, the assaults on Russian oil refineries must cease immediately. According to Axios, the U.S. decision followed Zelensky’s refusal to comply with several requests to halt these attacks. Deutsche Welle reported that Trump delivered a firm demand to Kyiv to end the strikes.

Diplomatic Talks and Kyiv's Response

During negotiations in Miami, Trump’s representatives raised the possibility of suspending intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Zelensky responded by criticizing the diesel supply deal as a "weak solution" and accused the Ukrainian delegation of being used merely as a facade in the talks. A senior Ukrainian official declared that Kyiv would persist with its strikes on Russian oil refineries, stating plainly, "We will continue to burn Russian refineries."

It is important to note that recent Russian missile attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 80 civilians in Ukraine within two days. Among the casualties, 12 people-including three children-were killed in Zaporizhzhia due to cluster bomb strikes. These tragic events have further intensified regional tensions and prompted a strong rejection of U.S. demands by the Ukrainian government.

This situation highlights the complex dynamics between the U.S. and Ukraine amid ongoing military conflict and energy security concerns. While Ukraine’s continued strikes on Russian refineries may serve as a strategic measure, they also raise concerns in Washington, which aims to ease tensions with Russia. Meanwhile, Kyiv remains resolute in defending its national interests despite pressure from the United States.

As tensions escalate, the situation in Ukraine continues to evolve, especially in light of recent demands from the U.S. government. In a related context, Russia has linked its cessation of energy strikes to the potential easing of sanctions, revealing the intricate ties between military actions and diplomatic negotiations. Understanding these developments is crucial as they may influence Ukraine's strategic decisions moving forward.
