Trukhanov denies Russian citizenship: what the mayor of Odessa refers to

According to glavcom.ua: The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, has denied having Russian citizenship and called the decision of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to deprive him of Ukrainian citizenship a 'falsification'. Expressing his position, Trukhanov emphasized that he has never had Russian citizenship, as confirmed by border crossings and checks by state authorities.

In the 22nd year, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky... instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to check with all relevant services... In the 22nd year, no Russian citizenship or passports were found in me.

The mayor of Odessa identified errors in the documents referred to by critics and plans to appeal to the court and, if necessary, the European Court of Human Rights.

Zelensky deprived citizenship

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree on deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship for some individuals possessing Russian passports, based on a petition that garnered over 25,000 signatures within a few hours. Among them are the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, as well as Oleg Tsarev and Sergey Polunin.
