Trabzonspor Negotiates for Ruslan Malinovskyi

According to Главком: Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor is in the final stages of negotiations to sign Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi from Italy's Genoa. According to information from Hlavkom, citing insider Fabrizio Romano, the talks are nearing completion, with Trabzonspor having offered a three-year contract. Malinovskyi's current deal with Genoa is set to expire at the end of the season. This potential move would see a key Ukrainian international continue his career in a league known for attracting established talent.

Born in Zhytomyr, Ruslan Malinovskyi has built a successful career across Europe. He began at youth level with Polissia and was part of Shakhtar Donetsk's system before launching his senior career with Sevastopol in the 2012/13 First League season. His journey has since included spells at Zorya Luhansk, Belgian side Genk, Italian club Atalanta, and French outfit Marseille. This season in Serie A, he made 30 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists. A Ukrainian national team stalwart since his 2015 debut, he has earned 70 caps and scored 10 goals, participating in two European Championships, winning the Belgian league title, and reaching the Coppa Italia final.

Ukrainian Presence at Trabzonspor

It is worth noting that Trabzonspor currently has two Ukrainian players in its squad-Arseniy Batagov and Oleksandr Zubkov. They were previously joined by Danylo Sikan, who transferred to Belgian club Anderlecht last winter. The club has a history with Ukrainian talent, fielding four players in the 1990s, with the pioneers being:

  • Viktor Hryshko
  • Yuriy Shelepnitskyi
  • Serhiy Husiev
  • Yuriy Kalitvintsev, who played for the club in the 1998/99 season

In other Ukrainian football news, goalkeeper Maksym Voronov has signed a contract with Brazilian club Atlético Paranaense until the end of 2029. The 19-year-old Voronov has yet to make his first-team debut for the club. Meanwhile, Ukrainian national team forward Vladyslav Vanat has ended his season prematurely due to a hamstring injury, with his recovery expected to take 10-12 weeks.

A finalized agreement between Trabzonspor and Ruslan Malinovskyi would mark a significant new chapter in the career of the Ukrainian footballer. Trabzonspor's activity in the transfer market signals their intent to strengthen the squad for the coming seasons.

Consequently, the outcome of these negotiations is of considerable interest to football fans and analysts alike.
