Turkish rescuers evacuated 25 sailors from the tanker attacked by Ukrainian drones
Evacuation from the tanker KAIROS
According to ХВИЛЯ: Turkish rescuers evacuated 25 crew members from the tanker KAIROS, which was struck by Ukrainian naval drones. The fire on the open deck of the tanker has been completely extinguished, but efforts to extinguish and cool down continue in the closed compartments of the ship. Rescue operations were carried out by the tugboat KURTARMA-12 and the vessel NENE HATUN.
Attack on tanker VIRAT
Furthermore, the tanker VIRAT also suffered a renewed attack on November 29, but only minor damage was recorded on the starboard side of the vessel. It is known that there is no fire on the VIRAT tanker, and the crew is safe. Both tankers, KAIROS and VIRAT, are sanctioned vessels of the 'shadow fleet' of the Russian Federation and were heading empty to Novorossiysk for loading with oil.
These events highlight the continuation of hostilities in the Black Sea and the impact of Ukrainian forces on the maritime infrastructure used by Russia for oil transportation. Attacks on sanctioned vessels may indicate increasing activity of the Ukrainian army in countering Russian military and economic interests in the region. Such actions may also have implications for global oil markets, as disruptions in supplies from Russia may cause fluctuations in oil prices.
