How the Syndrome Was Distributed Across Stages
Breaking down the results by CKM stage, researchers found that 40% of participants were in stage 1, 36% were in stage 2, and only 2.8% reached stage 3. No one in the study was classified as stage 4. Earlier analyses of the same cohort revealed that the thickness of some artery segments matched the levels expected in a 33-year-old, suggesting accelerated vascular aging. Poor nutrition and low levels of physical activity were among the main contributors.
The study also showed that most participants were city residents, and a large share belonged to socially vulnerable groups. CKM status is assessed through multiple factors, including:
