Residents of Chernivtsi have gained access to new transport services in the mobile app Smart City. From now on, users can pay for public transport rides, top up transport cards, and track buses and trolleybuses in real time through the platform. This was announced by the Chernivtsi City Council.

Smart City in Chernivtsi has transport services

The city council indicated that purchasing a single ticket takes just a few seconds. It is enough to scan a QR code or use an NFC tag that is placed in public transport vehicles.

After payment, the e-ticket is automatically saved in the app. Users can also view their trip history and control the validity period of purchased tickets.

Payment is available via bank cards, as well as through Apple Pay and Google Pay services.

Transport tracking is now available online

One of the main new features is tracking public transport in real time. Passengers can see the current location of buses and trolleybuses and plan their trips without unnecessary waiting at stops.

Additionally, users can top up transport cards through the app without visiting special sales points.

What other services are available in the app

The Smart City mobile app was officially presented in Chernivtsi in May 2026. The platform combines several city digital services into one interface.

In addition to transport services, users can pay utility bills, taxes, and fines, send electronic appeals to the city authorities, receive official notifications, and use an interactive map of shelters.

The app can be downloaded on smartphones with Android and iOS operating systems.

It is worth noting that from June 8, changes in the operation of public transport began in Chernivtsi due to changes related to the end of the school year and a seasonal decrease in the number of passengers, which has led the utility company to reduce the number of buses and trolleybuses on several city routes.
