According to Главком: A 40-year-old man has been taken into custody in Dnipro on charges of raping and killing an 11-year-old boy. The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office announced the development. The child's body was discovered around 10:00 AM on May 28, 2026, inside an abandoned building, showing clear signs of a violent death. His hands were bound, and he had sustained physical injuries. The boy had been reported missing since the evening of May 26.

According to the prosecutor's office, the suspect sexually assaulted the minor before strangling him. The detained individual admitted that the crime took place around 12:30 PM on May 27. Investigators have preliminarily determined that the suspect was acquainted with the victim. Authorities are now preparing to charge him with premeditated murder of a minor, as stipulated under Article 115, Part 2, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Other Cases of Violence Against Children

In Zaporizhzhia, the regional prosecutor's office has issued a notice of suspicion against a police officer for the rape of a 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on May 26 in a residential area of the city. The suspect is a senior detective with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, holding the rank of police major. He allegedly engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with the minor.

Separately, in the Odesa region, a 74-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping 13 boys. The investigation into this case lasted four and a half years. These incidents highlight serious concerns regarding child safety in Ukraine.
