A petition to launch public river transport on the Dnipro in Kyiv is gaining popularity. The authors of the initiative believe that water transport can partially relieve the bridges, reduce traffic jams, and serve as an alternative to overloaded routes between the left and right banks of the capital. This is stated in the petition on the Kyiv City Council's website.

River transport in Kyiv is proposed as an alternative to bridges

Petition author Ruslan Djansurkaev notes that the transport situation in the capital is becoming increasingly complicated due to bridge repairs, the emergency condition of certain crossings, and constant traffic jams during peak hours.

In his opinion, the Dnipro can become a full-fledged transport artery for the city without the need for large-scale construction of new infrastructure.

The petition proposes to create a public river transport system that would connect various districts of Kyiv and provide additional communication between the banks of the capital.

Metro in Kyiv criticized for lack of new stations

The author of the address also draws attention to metro development. The petition emphasizes that no new metro stations have been opened in Kyiv since 2014, and the prospects for expanding the network remain uncertain.

For this reason, the initiator believes that the city needs to seek unconventional logistics solutions to help reduce the load on roads and public transport.

It is pointed out separately that in the future, river routes could connect not only the districts of Kyiv but also the suburbs of the capital.

The petition for transport on the Dnipro has already gathered over 2,000 votes

At the moment, the petition has collected 2065 votes out of the necessary 6000. There are 24 days left until the end of the signature collection.

If the initiative receives the necessary support, it must be reviewed by the relevant departments of the Kyiv City State Administration.

At the same time, the Kyiv City Council continues to collect votes for other city initiatives, particularly regarding the renaming of the metro station 'Square of Ukrainian Heroes' in honor of Vasyl Stus.

Let us remind you that the public organization 'Passengers of Kyiv' has presented a new concept for fare payment in the capital's public transport. According to the new proposals, it is planned to abandon payment for each entry, instead introducing tickets that are valid for a specific time. The basic ticket for 45 minutes is proposed to be set at the level of 20 UAH, the ticket for 90 minutes will cost 30 UAH, and a daily pass is planned to be introduced for 80 UAH.
