Storm Sewer Overhaul on Andriia Malyshka Street

According to Главком: Traffic will be partially restricted on Andriia Malyshka Street in Kyiv's Dnipro district from March 1 to March 20 due to a major repair of the storm sewer system. This work, which involves replacing pipes and constructing new manholes, is necessary because the existing drainage infrastructure has not undergone a comprehensive renovation for over five decades. The project aims to eliminate localized flooding on the street and ensure safe traffic flow near the Chernihivska metro station. This type of infrastructure renewal is a common challenge for many historic cities with aging utility networks.

The traffic restrictions will be in effect at the intersection of Andriia Malyshka and Myropilska streets. This specific location has drawn attention due to urgent problems with the storm sewer, which requires immediate modernization. The repair work will include:

  • laying new pipelines;
  • constructing inspection manholes;
  • installing manhole covers and storm drains;
  • landscaping the adjacent area.

It is noteworthy that in 2025, the municipal enterprise 'Kyivavtodor' and its subordinate structures signed contracts for road repairs totaling 7.4 billion hryvnias. Of this amount, nearly 6.8 billion hryvnias was allocated directly to road rehabilitation. This demonstrates a systematic approach to improving the city's infrastructure, particularly in addressing issues that have accumulated over many years.

Kyiv's Infrastructure Enhancement Program

The storm sewer repair on Andriia Malyshka Street is part of a broader Kyiv infrastructure improvement program focused on modernizing outdated systems and enhancing conditions for residents and drivers. Given that storm drainage problems can lead to serious traffic congestion and flooding, the importance of these works is clear. Furthermore, such initiatives help improve the city's quality of life by reducing risks associated with infrastructure deficiencies and ensuring safer movement.
