In vocational education institutions in Kyiv, 95 professions will be available for applicants in 2026. Over the past five years, the capital has introduced training in 10 new areas, focusing on labor market needs and changes. This is reported by Kyiv City State Administration.

Among the new areas are professions related to robotics, renewable energy, unmanned systems, equipment repair, and construction.

What new professions can be obtained in Kyiv in 2026

In the past five years, vocational education institutions in the capital have introduced training for the following professions:

  • welder;
  • master in the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems;
  • operator of remotely controlled devices;
  • automotive painter;
  • master in the operation and repair of mechatronic and robotic systems;
  • installer of building insulation systems;
  • installer of window and door structures;
  • installer of ventilation, air conditioning, pneumatic transport, and aspiration systems;
  • designer of shop windows, premises, and buildings;
  • restorer of decorative artistic paintings.

As of September 1, there are 11,177 people studying in vocational education institutions in the capital. The regional order was fulfilled by 95% - 4,280 out of the planned 4,523 applicants were admitted.

Currently, 6,317 students are studying in person, another 4,860 - in a blended format. Residents of Kyiv make up 47% of the total number of students.

How professional education was updated in Kyiv in 2026

Along with the list of professions, the city is modernizing the material base of the institutions. In 2026, three training and practical centers were created, to which 32 million UAH were allocated. Another 21 million UAH were invested in updating eight training workshops.

«Vocational education must quickly respond to how the labor market is changing. We need not just qualified specialists but people with specific practical skills who can immediately work in their profession», — noted Kyiv City Administration Deputy Head Valentyn Mondriyvskyi.

The traditional distribution of professions between men and women is also changing. Among this year's applicants for chefs, 54% are young men. At the same time, among future operators of remotely controlled devices, 30% are girls.

Kyiv is also increasing the number of places in the shelters of vocational education institutions. Over four years, their capacity has increased by 45% - from 6.8 to 9.9 thousand places. Students and staff of one institution, which has suffered damage from Russian shelling eight times, were relocated to a more secure premises.

As a reminder, free training for tram drivers will start in Kyiv: the course begins on September 15.
