Heat Restored to Nearly 6,000 Kyiv Buildings, 50 Remain Without
Heating Returns to Kyiv
According to Главком: Following a Russian attack on critical infrastructure on January 9, heat has now been restored to nearly 6,000 apartment buildings in Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that as of Saturday morning, approximately 50 residential buildings remain without heating.
The massive strike on January 9 left thousands of Kyiv residents struggling without heat, initially affecting around 6,000 multi-story buildings. Repair crews have been working around the clock, and the situation has steadily improved. By January 15, the number of buildings without heat had been reduced, though about 100 were still affected at that time.
"Currently, about 50 buildings remain without heat out of the 6,000 that lost heating after the enemy's attack on Kyiv's critical infrastructure on January 9."
Vitali Klitschko
Restoring heat is a critical step in ensuring livable conditions for residents after severe damage to the city's infrastructure. While the vast majority of buildings now have heating, the remaining outages highlight the ongoing challenges Kyiv faces in repairing its critical systems. These winter attacks on energy networks have become a grim feature of the conflict.
Such incidents underscore the importance of emergency preparedness and the need for rapid response to future attacks on civilian infrastructure.
