Hundreds of children in China poisoned by lead in kindergarten
According to glavcom.ua: Six people, including an investor, the director, and cooks of the kindergarten, were arrested in Gansu Province (Northwest China). They are suspected of intentionally adding toxic lead dyes to children's food, resulting in the poisoning of 247 children. This was reported by

An investigation initiated by the authorities of Gansu Province, involving state experts in ecology and healthcare, revealed that the cooks added dyes to the flour for making pastries in the Heshi Peixin kindergarten in the Maiji district of Tianshui city. These dishes were served to children and staff several times a month since May 2024.
- The kindergarten director, with the support of the investor, asked the cooks to add dyes to make the served food look more attractive.
- Tests of food samples from the kindergarten showed elevated lead concentration: 1340 mg/kg in corn buns and 1052 mg/kg in date pastries – significantly above the norm.
