In Kropyvnytskyi, starting Monday, October 19, all 26 buses of the municipal enterprise 'Electrotrans' will be operational again on 12 routes. Previously, due to a lack of diesel, the number of trips was reduced, and the city was looking for funds for fuel. The resumption of the service was reported by the city council. Earlier, Inkorr reported about the shortages of diesel faced by the municipal carrier.

The head of the transport and communication department of the city council, Viktor Zhytnyk, announced that the enterprise managed to raise funds and purchase diesel. However, financial difficulties regarding the transportation of certain categories of passengers remain.

'The situation with passenger transportation remains tense. At the state level, the issue of reimbursing the enterprise for transporting certain categories of passengers has still not been resolved, and with community budget funds, 'Electrotrans' cannot purchase diesel,' noted Viktor Zhytnyk.

The reduction of buses began on September 28 due to rising diesel fuel prices and procurement issues. Suppliers were unwilling to participate in tenders under conditions of unstable prices. At the beginning of October, on eight out of 12 routes, instead of 26 buses, six buses and five trolleybuses with autonomous drive were operating.

Similar restrictions were already in place at the beginning of the month: at that time, the buses of 'Electrotrans' were operating on a reduced schedule due to budget difficulties and fuel shortages.

Why transport funding remains a problem

The Cabinet has prioritized funding for defense, servicing the national debt, pensions, social payments, and salaries for budget-funded workers. If the state lacks funds, payments will primarily be directed to these areas until the end of 2026.

The city council emphasizes that the resumption of bus services does not alleviate the issue of compensations for preferential transportation. The costs for carriers are also influenced by fuel prices and transport maintenance, which led the city to review fare rates earlier.
