One-Time Payment for Pensioners Scheduled for April 2026

According to ХВИЛЯ: A one-time payment of 1,500 Ukrainian hryvnias will be issued to specific categories of pensioners in April 2026. This measure was enabled by Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 341, adopted on March 18. The payment is part of a social security program funded from the budget of the Ministry of Social Policy. This initiative comes as part of broader state efforts to provide targeted financial support to vulnerable citizens.

The one-time supplement is intended for civilian pensioners, but certain conditions apply. To qualify, the recipient's total pension, including all supplements, must not exceed 25,950 hryvnias, which is equivalent to ten times the minimum pension. Furthermore, pensioners receiving benefits for years of service will only be eligible if they also qualify for an old-age pension.

Pensioner Groups Eligible for Unrestricted Payment

Notably, certain categories of pensioners will receive the payment without any restriction on their pension amount. These groups include:

  • Combatants and participants in the defense of Ukraine since 2014;
  • Families of military personnel who were killed, died, or are missing in action;
  • Liquidators of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident.

The financing for this program of social protection for citizens in difficult life circumstances involves the allocation of over 100 billion hryvnias from the state budget.

Dmytro Korsun, an expert on social security, noted: 'Not all military pensioners with years of service have reached retirement age. That is, not all of these individuals will receive this payment.'

Thus, the disbursement of the one-time payment represents a significant step in supporting specific segments of the population, though not everyone who might qualify will be able to receive it.

The introduction of this one-time pensioner supplement aims to improve the financial situation of those receiving small pensions and facing difficult life circumstances. The program is specifically targeted to support vulnerable groups, including war veterans and Chornobyl disaster responders. However, despite this positive step, the limitations based on pension size and age may cause concern among those who will not be able to access this assistance.

In addition to the one-time payment for specific pensioners, it's important to note that a broader initiative will see 13 million Ukrainians receiving a similar financial boost in April 2026. This widespread support reflects the government's commitment to assisting those in need during challenging times.
