Lviv Unveils Upgraded Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit Featuring 27 ICU Beds

Revamped Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit Now Operational

This updated facility includes 27 resuscitation beds, state-of-the-art medical technology, and enhanced conditions tailored for critically ill patients. The entire renovation was funded through the regional budget, totaling 105.8 million hryvnias.

The comprehensive upgrade involved:

• renovation of the physical space and engineering infrastructure;
• installation of advanced resuscitation equipment;
• creation of two intensive care halls accommodating 20 beds;
• a dedicated ward for cardiology patients recovering after stenting procedures;
• an isolation unit designed for infectious disease cases.

Newly introduced medical devices include:

• mechanical ventilators;
• cardiac monitoring systems;
• ventilation and air conditioning setups;
• centralized oxygen, compressed air, and vacuum supply systems.

Emergency Care Capabilities

This unit provides critical emergency services for patients suffering from heart attacks, strokes, severe injuries including those from traffic accidents, and other life-threatening conditions. A central monitoring station was established to enable continuous tracking of vital signs. Since the full-scale war began, over 23,000 individuals, including Ukrainian servicemen and women, have received treatment at the hospital. In 2026 alone, more than 5,200 patients have been treated inpatient.

Recent years have seen extensive hospital upgrades, including improvements to:

• emergency and surgical departments;
• arthrology unit;
• vertebrology and neurosurgery departments;
• a newly established rehabilitation center;
• installation of an angiographic system;
• renovated shelters for protection.

Over the past six years, regional authorities have invested more than 927 million hryvnias into modernizing the hospital. The 2026 budget allocates over 252 million hryvnias for further development, covering the procurement of medicines and equipment, improved nutrition for veterans, energy costs, capital repairs, and priority investment projects.

The launch of the upgraded anesthesiology and intensive care unit at Lviv's regional hospital marks a significant advancement in delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients.

These ongoing modernization efforts and substantial financial commitments demonstrate local government’s dedication to providing war veterans and other patients with advanced medical services.
