The problem with increasing teachers' salaries

According to hvylya.net: The draft law on increasing salaries for teachers will be postponed every year due to significant expenditures of the state budget in connection with the war. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary committee on education, science, and innovation, Sergey Babak.

Schools are indeed experiencing a shortage of specialists, especially in the fields of natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, and biology. Young teachers are reluctant to come to schools, which exacerbates the situation. The main problem lies in the insufficient level of salaries, which does not encourage young specialists to choose a career in education.

The state can talk about the prestige and mission of the profession, but until a young specialist sees the prospects of stable and decent earnings - they do not come to work in schools

Changes to education laws have already been adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, but the implementation of the draft law on increasing teachers' salaries is complicated by financial constraints of the state budget, notably due to the war in the east of the country.

The head of the committee called for decent remuneration for teachers if society wants to see young and motivated specialists ready for active work in schools.

When salary increases for teachers become a problem due to significant expenditures of the state budget in connection with the war, this may lead to a shortage of qualified specialists in education. Insufficient motivation due to unstable salaries can exacerbate this problem, complicating the situation in Ukrainian schools.
