According to glavcom.ua: Two Muslim women from California have filed a lawsuit due to a violent arrest during a protest. They accuse the police of forcing them to remove their hijabs in front of men, violating their rights. The women demand an end to this practice and compensation for humiliation and stress.

Salma Nasruddin and Shinai Aini were detained on May 15, 2024, during a protest at the University of California, Irvine. Aini claims that the police tore off her hijab during the arrest and did not allow her to cover her head. Nasruddin reported that they were thrown to the ground, detained, and forced to remove their hijabs in the presence of men. The women assert that such treatment by the police violates their religious and personal rights.

It is alleged that the sheriff's department violated internal rules regarding the treatment of religious detainees and the US Constitution. They claim that the officers broke the rules and forced them to remove their hijabs in front of men, causing humiliation and fear. The women demand an end to this practice and compensation for what was done to them.

The women are seeking damages due to the violent arrest during the protest and drawing attention to violations of their religious and personal rights by the police.
