Uganda's Pledge of Military Aid to Israel

According to Главком: Uganda's military commander, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has declared the country's readiness to join a war on Israel's side against Iran. He even offered to deploy a military brigade with the objective of capturing Tehran. Kainerugaba asserted that a Ugandan brigade could accomplish this mission more swiftly than the division Israel's allies are currently seeking.

Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has prior combat experience from operations in South Sudan. He was appointed as the nation's army chief in 2024. Previously, in 2022, he was temporarily suspended from his command role after publicly threatening to invade Kenya.

Kainerugaba's Rationale for Backing Israel

'Israel stood with us when we were nobody in the 1980s and 1990s. Why shouldn't we defend them now when our GDP is $100 billion? One of the largest in Africa.' Muhoozi Kainerugaba

Kainerugaba also expressed concern over the global climate, stating: 'We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will draw us into the war. On the side of Israel!'

This statement signals Uganda's increasingly assertive foreign policy and its potential direct involvement in Israel's conflict with Iran. Uganda's stance is part of a complex global landscape where regional powers are taking sides in major disputes. In a separate incident highlighting international tensions, Zimbabwe reported the deaths of 15 of its citizens who were recruited by Russia to fight in the war against Ukraine.

Kainerugaba's remarks underscore not only Uganda's military ambitions but also its willingness to engage in global conflicts, which could alter the geopolitical balance in the region. Given Uganda's historical ties with Israel, this position may forge new alliances while escalating tensions with Iran and its partners. Observers are closely monitoring the situation, as these developments could have significant repercussions for security in both Africa and the Middle East.
