According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Ukrzaliznytsia has signed an agreement with Alstom for the supply of 55 modern freight locomotives. This will help solve the problem of the outdated fleet, the average age of which exceeds 46 years. The agreement was made possible thanks to the support of the government and international partners, including the World Bank and EBRD.
According to the agreement, the new electric locomotives will effectively replace the old ones, allowing costs to be reduced by more than 30%. The agreement with Alstom also received grant support of 173 million euros from URTF and a long-term loan of 300 million euros from EBRD.
