State Budget-2026: 258 billion UAH allocated for medicine
The state budget for 2026 has already been approved, and this is important news for all Ukrainians, especially those monitoring healthcare affairs. So, an extraordinarily large amount is allocated to this sector - a total of 258.6 billion UAH! This is 38.8 billion UAH more than last year. The main focus is on funding the Medical Guarantees Program, for which 191.6 billion UAH is planned (16.1 billion UAH more than in 2025).
And that's not all! The government also plans to expand access to free medications for patients under the 'Affordable Medicines' program, as well as increase funds for centralized procurement, particularly in oncology, cardiovascular diseases, and immunoprophylaxis. For the first time, funding for a national health screening program for people over 40 years old is also provided.
'The national budget for 2026 is also allocated for the implementation of public medical projects, modernization of medical infrastructure, and support for young doctors. This is another step towards improving the quality of medical care for all citizens of Ukraine.'
In general, the approved budget for 2026 aims not only to increase expenditures in the healthcare sector but also to improve the accessibility and quality of medical care for every citizen of the country. This is an important step towards ensuring stability and development of the medical system in the context of war and reforms.
