Construction of a New Bridge Crossing

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: A major infrastructure project is underway in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region: a new bridge over the Dniester River that will link Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova. This crossing is being built to serve the future Yampil–Cosăuți international border checkpoint. Once completed, the route between Vinnytsia and the Moldovan city of Soroca will be reduced by 28 kilometers, speeding up both freight and passenger transport.

Completion is scheduled for 2026. Upon opening, the bridge will play a key role in integrating Ukraine’s road network into the broader European TEN-T transport system. Construction has already made significant progress, with substantial work completed on the bridge supports and metal structures.

Funding and Regional Impact

To support the project, the Ukrainian government allocated 383.8 million hryvnias from the state budget reserve fund in 2026 for building a temporary technological bridge. According to the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the new crossing will boost logistics efficiency and unlock new opportunities for border communities in both Ukraine and Moldova.

This bridge is a crucial step forward for infrastructure in both countries. The improved connection between Vinnytsia and Soroca is expected to drive regional economic growth. It could also strengthen bilateral ties, as streamlined transport routes and shorter cargo transit times encourage business and tourism exchanges.

Given the strategic importance of the project, its completion could be a major catalyst for developing border areas and advancing Ukraine’s integration into the European transport network.
