Digitalization and SME Support: A New Chapter in Ukraine-Romania Cooperation

According to Мін. Економіки: Kyiv and Bucharest are stepping up their intergovernmental collaboration, focusing on digital transformation and assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev met with Romanian Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship, Digitalization, and Tourism Irineu Darău to discuss sharing best practices in these areas.

The Ukrainian side highlighted its progress in building digital tools for businesses, showcasing initiatives such as:

  • Horizon
'To work more effectively, we are restarting the joint intergovernmental commission. We also want to share our experience in digitalization and SME support with Romania.' Oleksiy Sobolev

Additionally, Ukraine invited Romania to join the SME Resilience Alliance and to participate in URC 2026 in Gdańsk, Poland. This partnership aims to foster a stronger business environment and deepen economic ties between the two countries.

Strengthened cooperation in digitalization and SME support could significantly boost the economies of both nations. By exchanging knowledge on digital technologies, businesses can become more competitive and better equipped to handle modern challenges.
