F10 Unmanned Aerial Systems Approved for Export

According to Главком: On July 1, Ukraine's State Export Control Service granted permission for the shipment of F10 attack drones, manufactured by F-Drones, to the United States Armed Forces. This decision followed approval from the Interagency Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control Policy. Notably, this marks the first known instance of Ukraine officially allowing the export of complete combat drone systems to the American military, opening up fresh avenues for defense collaboration.

Significance of the Move and Future Outlook

This authorization represents a major milestone, as Ukraine has for the first time approved the export of fully assembled unmanned aerial vehicles rather than just individual components or technologies. The decision clears the way to fulfill contractual obligations under the U.S. Department of Defense's Drone Dominance program. In February, UDD Tech Corp, the American representative of F-Drones, participated in the initial phase of the Gauntlet I program at Fort Benning in Georgia. The F10 drone ranked sixth out of 25 competitors and was among the eleven winners selected, leading to a contract to supply 2,000 drones to the U.S. Department of Defense. The company has also been chosen for the program's next stage.

The export approval was granted before new Ukrainian cabinet decisions took effect, which streamline the export of military goods under martial law. In light of this, Kyiv and Washington are preparing a broader agreement for joint drone production. A key part of this strategy is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's announcement of Ukraine's shift toward managed arms exports, along with the launch of three export platforms involving the United States, European partners, and other countries worldwide.

Commenting on these developments, expert Stas Khutir noted that 'this does not mean reducing supplies to the front-on the contrary, a stronger defense industry means a stronger army, and today's export builds tomorrow's capabilities for the Ukrainian military.' Thus, the export of F10 drone systems marks a crucial step in enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities and its international partnerships.

This move highlights Ukraine's growing engagement in defense cooperation with allies, particularly the United States. Amid ongoing military threats and the need to modernize its armed forces, Ukraine is focusing on expanding military exports, which could significantly bolster its defensive strength. Moreover, such collaboration may enhance Ukraine's military technical base and introduce new technologies, ultimately raising the region's security level.

This significant development in Ukraine's defense strategy is part of a broader initiative to enhance military cooperation with allies. As such, the recent drone deal opens opportunities for partners to access advanced weaponry and technologies, potentially reshaping the landscape of modern warfare and defense collaboration in the region.
