Ukraine Strikes Deep Inside Russia in Series of Long-Range Attacks

Ukrainian forces strike deep into enemy territory
Україна завдає потужних ударів по російській території в численних операціях на великій відстані.

Operations by Ukraine’s Defense Forces

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine’s military has reported a wave of long-range strikes targeting Russian rear areas, carried out overnight on June 25 and in the preceding days. These operations hit key infrastructure, including oil depots, bridges, radar systems, a satellite communications center, and other fuel-related facilities belonging to the Russian Federation.

Details of the Attacks

On the night of June 22, a strike was launched against the 'Vladimir' Space Communications Center near Gus-Khrustalny in Russia’s Vladimir region. The attack critically damaged the facility’s main 25-meter parabolic antenna, as well as an antenna on the roof of the primary hardware-software complex. The central section of the building, which houses satellite modem rooms, multiplexers, and the main switching hub, was also hit. Additionally, Hardware-Technical Building No. 1-containing transmitting and receiving systems, along with cooling equipment for the main antenna-sustained severe damage.

The following day, on June 24, the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant was struck, damaging four gas processing units and halting production. On the night of June 25, drones hit the 'Poltavskaya' oil depot in Krasnodar Krai, triggering a fire at the site. This facility supplied Russian forces in occupied territories of Ukraine.

Three bridges were also targeted:

  • A road bridge over the Korsak River in Zaporizhzhia;
  • Two railway bridges over the Aidar and Luhanchyk rivers in Luhansk region.

In addition, a storage site for occupiers’ materiel near Novohannivka and a command post near Tsukuryne in Donetsk region were struck. The attacks also hit a 'Nebo' radar station and a 'Skala-M' system near Kerch in occupied Crimea.

Further strikes targeted two oil refineries belonging to the Bashneft group in Ufa, located about 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Drones from the 'Alpha' Special Operations Center hit the Bashneft-Novoyl and Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim facilities. Explosions in Ufa sparked fires, including at least two separate ignition points. The affected AVT units, which handle primary oil refining, are now burning.

“The enemy has no safe rear, even 1,500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.”

Security Service of Ukraine

These strikes are part of Ukraine’s broader effort to dismantle Russian military logistics and reduce their combat capabilities. By targeting critical infrastructure-such as gas and oil processing plants, as well as communication systems-Ukraine aims to inflict maximum damage on enemy rear resources, potentially altering the conflict’s trajectory. The operations also highlight Ukraine’s ability to conduct long-range missions, which could shift the strategic balance in the region.

These recent operations by Ukraine’s Defense Forces come in the wake of a broader strategy targeting critical Russian military assets. For instance, just prior to these strikes, Ukrainian forces successfully targeted a refinery and a warship in a coordinated effort to disrupt supply lines and military capabilities. Such actions highlight the ongoing intensity of the conflict and Ukraine's commitment to countering Russian aggression.
