Digital Health in Ukraine: What Patients Can Now Use

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Ukraine now offers five digital healthcare services that patients can start using right away. These innovations are meant to simplify access to medical care and strengthen communication between doctors and patients. They are part of a wider effort to bring more public services online in the country.

A Closer Look at Each Service

• Service 1: Choose a primary care doctor and submit your declaration online. In the Patient Cabinet, you can search for a family physician, review your active declaration, and update your personal information. This makes it easier to connect with the right medical specialist.
• Service 2: Receive an e-prescription remotely. For people undergoing long-term treatment for a chronic or recurring illness, a doctor can create an e-prescription without an in-person consultation and record the necessary medical data in the Electronic Health Care System (eHealth).
• Service 3: Compare medication prices through a QR code. The information note attached to each e-prescription includes a QR code that leads to the National Price Catalogue, where patients can find the most affordable options for medicines with the same active substance.
• Service 4: Get a medical certificate for temporary incapacity without paper forms. After examining the patient, the doctor issues the certificate in eHealth, and the data is forwarded automatically to the Pension Fund.
• Service 5: Use eMalyatko, now supported by digital birth certificates. When a baby is born, the doctor submits a birth record to eHealth, and parents receive a reference number to apply for the eMalyatko service.

Altogether, these digital services greatly streamline the process of obtaining medical help in Ukraine, making care more accessible and treatment more effective.
