According to glavcom.ua: The Ukrainian national team impressed on the first day of the World Games 2025, finishing their performance with one gold, two silver medals, and sixth place in the overall medal count. Our athletes showcased their best performance on August 8, competing in eight sports.
Sport Acrobatic
- Mixed pairs: Evfrosiniya Kryvytska and Ivan Labunets won gold.
- Women's pairs: Ruza Vecheryuk and Angelina Chernivska won silver.
Karate
- Kumite, 55 kg, women: Angelika Terlyuga won silver.
Water Skiing
- Wake surfing, qualification: Sonya Sokolova took 2nd place (will compete in the semi-finals on August 9); Volodymyr Chuba took 3rd place (will compete in the semi-finals on August 9).
Muay Thai
Quarter-finals: Anastasia Mikhailenko (48 kg) lost in the opening match to Rudzmi Abubakar from the Philippines – 27:30;
Dmytro Shelesko (57 kg) defeated Said Rohullah Mosavi from Afghanistan – 29:28 and advanced to the semi-finals on August 9;
Alexander Yefimenko (71 kg) overcame his opponent from Morocco Abdelali Zahdi – 29:28 and advanced to the semi-finals on August 9.
Wushu
- Taolu (taijiquan-taijijiannan): Orina Ivanova took 9th place.
Squash
1/16 finals: Alina Bushma lost to Franci Vidovich from Croatia – 2:3,
Dmytro Shcherbakov lost to Devaldo Van Nederku from South Africa – 0:3.
Orienteering
- Middle distance: Elena Babich took 16th place, Ilya Otryeshko – 22nd place.
Trampoline
- Synchronised trampoline jumps, qualification: David Sandomyrsky and Andriy Sokolov took 8th place, not advancing to the semi-finals.
Ukraine showed an impressive result at the World Games 2025, winning 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. It is also important to note that at the European Youth Olympic Festival, the Ukrainian team placed 10th, which is the second-best result in the history of this event. Additionally, Ukrainian athletes won another 12 medals at the World Summer Universiade, including bronze from Mykola Ruschak.
