Government Updates Rules for Submitting Claims to the International Register of Damages

According to Мін. Економіки: The Ukrainian government has revised the procedures for filing claims with the International Register of Damages (RD4U). This update allows individuals, legal entities, and the state to seek compensation for costs tied to humanitarian demining efforts. The new feature will be available on the Diia online portal, making the application process more accessible to everyone.

Key Details of the Initiative

Claims submitted under this initiative will cover humanitarian demining and the clearance of unexploded ordnance from affected areas. The program also includes training for demining specialists and public awareness campaigns about mine risks. Notably, the state will reimburse farmers and agricultural producers for the costs of clearing their land. These claims fall under category B5.

This effort marks a significant step toward improving public safety and restoring regions impacted by combat. Streamlining applications through the Diia portal is expected to encourage broader participation in demining programs. Since many of the contaminated areas are vital for agriculture, supporting farmers in this way could also boost the national economy.

In addition to the new compensation measures, the Ukrainian government is also taking steps to enhance the demining process itself. For instance, auctions for demining private farmland have been launched, which aim to further engage local communities in restoring their land and improving safety. This initiative complements the compensation framework by ensuring that affected areas are cleared efficiently and effectively.
