Ukrainian Maria Vynnyk won silver at the World Wrestling Championship in Zagreb
At the World Wrestling Championship in Zagreb, Croatia, Ukrainian team athlete Maria Vynnyk won a silver medal in the 59 kg weight category. On her way to the medal, she defeated the vice-champion of Europe from Hungary and a medalist of world and European championships from Norway. In the semifinals, Maria defeated the three-time champion of the Pan-American Championship from Canada. In the final, she lost to the Asian champion and world U20 champion from Japan with a score of 8:17.
Moreover, it has been reported that the athlete from Russia, two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Abdulrashid Sadulaev, was denied a visa, so he did not participate in the World Championship. This is not the first time he has faced problems with exit due to visa refusal from a Schengen area country.
