Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Russian Infrastructure

According to ХВИЛЯ: On the night of June 12, Ukrainian drones launched attacks on oil infrastructure deep inside Russian territory and a training ground in the Zaporizhzhia region where three Russian military units were undergoing preparation. The Security Systems Forces (SSF) carried out the strike on the Vostochny training ground near Novopetrivka.

Three Russian units were simultaneously training at the Vostochny facility:

  • The 40th Naval Infantry Brigade from Kamchatka, which spent over a year assaulting Vuhledar and lost most of its personnel on the city's approaches;
  • The 1461st Regiment of the 36th Army, composed of Buryat soldiers;
  • The 1466th Regiment of the 5th Army, which includes new recruits from Primorsky Krai.

Notably, in 2023, an incident occurred in the 1466th Regiment where a company commander shot and killed the regiment's intelligence chief (call sign Mustang) at the command post, then took his own life. All three units are currently engaged in combat operations on the Hulyaipole front.

Additional drone targets included:

  • A Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system near Vershyna Druha;
  • A ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun and a MANPADS crew in the Novopetrivka area;
  • A drone unit command post in Novoandriivka, Donetsk region;
  • A drone operator deployment site in Dovzhansk, Luhansk region.

During the strikes, drones hit the Tamansky oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai, located 270 km from the front line, as well as a central oil preparation and pumping station in Volgograd Oblast, 500 km from the front. The attacks also affected the port of Temryuk in Krasnodar Krai, where local authorities reported a fire at a marine terminal.

Kherson region occupation governor Saldo reported damage to bridges on Russian-controlled territory. As one expert noted,

“The Buryats and Kamchatka marines took their final exams with the SSF Birds at the Vostochny training ground in the TOT”

- Robert Magyar Brovdi.

These attacks highlight the growing activity of Ukrainian drones on Russian-controlled territory and potential shifts in tactics by both sides in the conflict. Successful strikes on key military and infrastructure targets could significantly impact the operational capability of Russian forces, particularly in terms of troop training and supply. This also underscores the importance of unmanned technologies in modern warfare.

In addition to targeting military installations, recent Ukrainian drone operations have effectively disrupted logistics on occupied roads in southern Ukraine. This strategic move not only hampers the supply lines for Russian forces but also highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the invaders.
