TANECO Refinery Complex Targeted

According to ХВИЛЯ: On Monday, August 10, Ukrainian drones struck the TANECO refinery complex in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, after flying roughly 1,120 km from the Ukrainian border. The morning attack used FP-1 drones. TASS, citing Tatarstan's government, reported 12 people killed and 39 wounded. Monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ recorded a fire at the plant, while Astra said the SIBUR-owned Nizhnekamskneftekhim facility also appeared to be hit. TANECO has an annual capacity of about 16 million tons of oil and produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other refined products. Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces said hitting such targets creates pressure on Russia's refining industry.

Fallout From the Attack

Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belyaev confirmed the large-scale raid, saying

“a massive attack on Nizhnekamsk is ongoing”

. He added:

“Both industrial and civilian facilities are being targeted. Unfortunately, there are fatalities.”

The city's industrial zone is home to two refineries: TAIF-NK and TANECO (Tatneft).

The Unmanned Systems Forces also reported that over the six-month Deep Strike campaign, 43% of Russia's refining capacity has been taken offline. Earlier drone strikes had targeted the Syzran refinery and a Wildberries warehouse in Leningrad Oblast.
