Germany to Receive Ukrainian Military Training, Gaining Direct Insight from the Russia-Ukraine War
Ukrainian Instructors to Train the German Armed Forces
According to Главком: Germany will become the first nation to receive specialized military training from Ukrainian instructors, under an agreement finalized last month between Berlin and Kyiv. A contingent of several dozen Ukrainian military personnel will soon arrive in Germany for a multi-week training program. This initiative marks a significant shift, as Germany becomes the first country to formally secure such an agreement to learn from Ukraine's direct combat experience.
Training Curriculum
The Ukrainian specialists will instruct German soldiers across a range of critical military disciplines, including:
- Artillery operations
- Battlefield engineering solutions
- Armored vehicle and tank operations
- Drone warfare and application
- Unit command and control structures
A dedicated segment of the training will focus on data-driven warfare – the conduct of military operations using digital technologies and integrated information systems. This partnership comes amid heightened security concerns across Europe. Intelligence assessments from Germany and other NATO allies suggest Russia could be prepared for a large-scale attack on a NATO country by 2029. In light of this timeline, German representative Christian Freuding emphasized the urgency:
“That's practically the day after tomorrow. We have no time – the enemy will not wait for us to announce we are ready.”
Consequently, this military training cooperation between Ukraine and Germany is poised to substantially strengthen the defensive capabilities of both nations. The agreement underscores the critical importance of international military collaboration and a unified response to threats that could destabilize the European region. Expanding such training and the exchange of hard-won experience among allies is becoming a key factor in enhancing preparedness for potential future conflicts.
