Ukrainian forces struck mass targets at Russia's oil refining: Tuapse, Tamann, and Rybinsk
Strike on Tuapse Oil Refinery
According to Главком: On the night of December 31, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Tuapse Oil Refinery and other sites in the Russian Federation. Among the targets of the attack were key infrastructure facilities that are critically important for the oil refining industry.
In particular, the strike was aimed at the Tuapse Oil Refinery located in the Krasnodar Territory. As a result of the attack, the primary oil processing unit and deep processing units were damaged. The Tuapse Refinery has a processing capacity of about 12 million tons of oil per year, making it one of the important facilities in the Russian oil refining infrastructure.
Other Targets of the Attack
Additionally, the oil and gas terminal 'Tamánneftegaz', located on the Taman Peninsula, was hit. It is known that during the attack, two berths of the oil terminal were affected, which could impact the logistics of fuel delivery. Furthermore, the oil depot 'Temp' in the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region, was successfully attacked. This oil depot is responsible for storing strategic reserves of oil products, underscoring the importance of its operation for ensuring oil supply.
Also, during the operation, a temporary base point for river boats near Olenivka in Crimea was hit. The damage to ammunition depots in the areas of Blizhne and Sityatel in Donetsk additionally indicates the wide range of targets that were hit during this attack. The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct operations aimed at reducing the military capabilities of the enemy and affecting its infrastructure.
These strikes are part of Ukraine's strategy to weaken the economic and military infrastructure of the Russian aggressor. The targeting of key facilities in the oil refining industry may lead to a decrease in oil product production in Russia, which in turn will affect the country's ability to meet its military needs. Such actions highlight the continuation of the conflict and Ukraine's efforts to reduce dependence on Russian resources amid war.
