Ukrainian Soldiers with Limb Loss Receive Prosthetics at Triple the Cost
Life After Injury: How Prosthetics Restore Mobility and Purpose
According to Міністерство соц. політики: Mykola, a Ukrainian serviceman who lost both an upper and lower limb during the early stages of the full-scale invasion, now leads an active life thanks to cutting-edge prosthetic technology. He enjoys fishing and tennis, and uses a highly functional prosthetic to work on his computer and handle daily tasks. His story proves that prosthetics do not have to limit what people can do-or what they truly love.
Government Support and the Prosthetic Fitting Process
The state provides rehabilitation aids and prosthetic devices free of charge. For military personnel and civilians injured in combat, the maximum cost of prosthetics has been set three times higher than the standard rate. The process begins with an assessment and a recommendation from a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. According to Vitalii Muzichenko, patients can receive high-functionality prosthetics even during the initial fitting stage. Once a readiness assessment is completed, combat veterans are free to choose their own prosthetic provider.
Thanks to this modern approach to prosthetics, soldiers like Mykola can not only regain physical mobility but also continue pursuing their favorite activities. This case highlights the importance and effectiveness of modern prosthetic technologies, which give trauma survivors the chance to return to an active life. The government actively supports these individuals by providing the necessary rehabilitation tools. This not only aids physical recovery but also positively impacts mental well-being, helping people maintain their connection to the hobbies and activities they love.
