Ukraine House Debuts at Munich Security Conference

According to МЗС: During the 62nd Munich Security Conference, the newly inaugurated Ukraine House has become a vital hub for debating European defense and showcasing Ukrainian solutions. The opening ceremony was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock. For the next two days, Ukraine House will operate alongside the established German and American national pavilions, with a core focus on strengthening the European defense system.

The launch also serves to honor the memory of Ukraine's fallen heroes. Andrii Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine is a top priority at this year's conference, stating:

'We have entered a new era. Europe's era of outsourcing its security is over. The time has come to build our own internal strength. And this is only possible with Ukraine as an integral part of the new European security architecture.'

The Minister stressed that Ukraine House was created not only to display the destruction wrought by Russia but also to highlight what Ukraine is actively building:

  • defense capabilities
  • innovations
  • resilience

– solutions that make Europe stronger. Sybiha noted that Ukraine is ready to share the hard-won lessons it has learned during the conflict.

He also called for a shared responsibility for European security, remarking:

'It would be fair to call this place the European House. Because Europe is our common home. And we all want it to be well-protected, successful, and comfortable.'

Andrii Sybiha underscored that the time when Europe relied on external powers for its protection has passed. 'We have enough strength of our own. We only need to recognize it – and Ukraine is a key source of this genuine European strength.'

In closing, he expressed his hope that Ukraine House would become a 'Hub of Resilience for the Munich Security Conference,' a place to find inner strength and inspiration. Discussion topics at the pavilion will cover the battlefield situation, energy security, supply chains, and defense innovations.

Ukraine's Expanding Role in European Security Architecture

The establishment of Ukraine House at the Munich Security Conference highlights the nation's growing role in shaping Europe's security framework. This event reflects a broader shift in European security thinking, as nations move toward more active cooperation and the development of joint strategies to counter external threats. The Munich Security Conference is a premier global forum for defense policy, making this a significant platform for Ukraine. Having endured immense losses and challenges, Ukraine aims not only to share its experience but also to be an active participant in forging the future of European security.
