According to hvylya.net:
A resident of Kyiv, Alina, recounted how she managed to purchase a ticket for the Kyiv-Warsaw train for 3000 hryvnias, while other passengers in their compartment paid 5000 hryvnias to resellers. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' confirms that during the summer period, it becomes increasingly difficult to find tickets for western routes, as one ticket can be sought after by up to 15 people.
Over the past five years, more than a thousand carriages have gone out of service, leading to a shortage of seats. In 2025, 55 new carriages were purchased, and the following year, another hundred are planned to be acquired. The situation is complicated by organized groups that reserve a large number of seats. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' is also combating ticket speculators who use various tricks for mass ticket purchases.
The Ukrainian railway is already taking measures to address the issue of the lack of seats on trains to popular destinations, planning to purchase new carriages and fighting against resellers and ticket speculators.
