Two Extra Weekend Trains to the Carpathians Announced by Ukrainian Railways
Extra Carpathian Train Services
According to УНІАН — Туризм: Due to a surge in travel demand, Ukrainian Railways has scheduled two additional trains to the Carpathian region for the weekend of June 12–15. Specifically, routes include Train No. 251/252 connecting Kyiv and Rakhiv, as well as Train No. 277/278 running between Kyiv and Mukachevo. Departures from Kyiv are set for June 12 and 14, with return trips leaving on June 13 and 15, respectively.
Tickets for these extra services are already on sale through the Ukrainian Railways app and website. The additional trains were made possible by a rapid redistribution of rolling stock, utilizing cars that recently underwent repairs at the company’s own facilities.
New Routes and Updated Schedule
Starting June 28, Ukrainian Railways plans to launch a new daily Intercity train connecting Dnipro and Odesa. Another daily high-speed Intercity service between Kyiv and Odesa will begin on June 27. Then, on June 29, the company will shift to an updated summer timetable, with ticket sales opening on June 9.
Under the new schedule, the railway operator has introduced:
- 12 new train services;
- speed improvements for three trains;
- extensions of four routes to reach the mountains;
- conversion of eight every-other-day trains into daily services.
These measures aim to improve transportation links during the summer season, when demand for trains to resort areas like the Carpathians traditionally spikes. The introduction of new routes and schedule updates reflects the company’s adaptation to passenger needs, which could positively impact the carrier’s financial performance.
In addition to the newly announced weekend services, Ukrainian Railways is set to enhance its overall connectivity with the introduction of a range of new routes and extended journeys this summer. These improvements aim to meet the increasing travel demand and provide more convenient options for passengers heading to popular destinations, including the breathtaking Carpathians.
