Ukrzaliznytsia will sell tickets for buses: the first five railway stations became transport hubs

Railway stations in Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Berdychiv, and Bila Tserkva will officially integrate with the bus transportation system. From there, legal bus routes will be opened, and subsequently, tickets for them are planned to be sold through Ukrzaliznytsia services. This is reported by the Ministry of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine.

Five stations have already been included in the electronic List of Bus Stations of Ukrtransbezpeka. This is a necessary condition for the official servicing of bus carriers and passengers.

Bus routes from railway stations will be officially launched in 2026

The new status allows for the establishment of legal bus departure points near the stations and the opening of new routes from there. The stations are:

• Lviv;
• Zaporizhzhia;
• Dnipro;
• Berdychiv;
• Bila Tserkva.

One of the project's tasks is to gradually eliminate impromptu boarding and alighting points near the stations. Bus services will have designated departure points and will operate as official routes.

«It is important for bus stations and carriers to operate legally and within the legal framework, and for bus routes to be formed in accordance with current legislation requirements. This issue concerns safety, service quality, and the protection of passenger rights,» said the first deputy minister Serhii Derkach.

Tickets for buses are planned to be sold through Ukrzaliznytsia services

The next stage will be the organization of bus ticket sales through railway stations and digital services of Ukrzaliznytsia. Carriers are already being invited to join the system so that their routes can be found and booked in the UZ app.

Priority will be given to bus routes to and from frontline territories, where the ability to quickly switch from train to bus is of particular importance.

In the future, Ukrzaliznytsia and the ministry plan to introduce a multimodal ticket. A passenger will be able to create a route combining a railway and a bus journey and purchase the necessary tickets through one service.

Currently, more than 400 facilities are included in the electronic List of Bus Stations of Ukrtransbezpeka. The ministry plans to continue the integration of railway and bus transport.
